Will my future employers know about this?
I’ve been told that some employment applications, just like credit applications, include a question asking whether you have ever filed bankruptcy. If you are like most debtors, you can merely point to the unfortunate series of events which led to your filing and show that you were able to manage your credit properly after the filing, and that it never negatively affected your reliability and competency regarding your employment.
Lying about it probably would not be a good idea, since many creditors routinely check your credit and the bankruptcy or the bad credit you would have had on your credit report if you had not filed bankruptcy would be there to see. I just assume it is better to be a debtor than a liar.
