Will this affect my spouse’s credit if (s)he doesn’t file bankruptcy?

It is not supposed to. The only thing that should be on your spouse’s credit should be, for example, loans where you and your spouse have co-signed a mortgage or other debt and you have filed bankruptcy. In that situation, the creditor could report on your spouse’s credit that the CO-SIGNER for your spouse on a particular loan had filed bankruptcy. This should not be a negative on the non-filing spouse’s credit, assuming that the spouse understands that he is still liable for the debt and has continued paying it on time.
